Description
26 Bridge Street is a terraced house that has been converted into an office. The building features a stuccoed front and a close-eaved roof. It stands three storeys high and consists of one bay. The second floor has a 9-pane hornless sash window, while the first floor has a 12-pane sash window. The ground floor showcases a late 19th century or early 20th century shop front, which underwent extensive restoration in the late 20th century. This restoration included the renewal of flanking panelled and fluted pilasters with paired consoles on either side of the fascia, as well as panelled gabled blocks above. The shop front has a single-pane plate glass window with a thin turned shaft to the right, and a side-pane that is canted in towards a recessed doorway on the right. The doorway features a half-glazed door with an overlight above it. There is a small blank recess in the upper right corner of the facade and a short return wall to the right. A basement light is located below the shop front.
Inside, the front room has been converted into an office, and there is an earlier 19th century closed-string staircase located behind to the left. This staircase has stick balusters and a bulbous turned newel.
