Description
35 King Street is a terraced shop and office building dating from the 19th century. It features painted stucco and a slate close-eaved roof with end stacks. The building stands three storeys high and has two bays. The windows are six-pane horned sash types, with broader middle panes on the second floor. There is a canted timber oriel window with 2-4-2-pane sashes, and a cornice with a dentil course above a lead hipped roof on the first floor.
The ground floor has openings beneath an overall fascia and cornice, which were altered in the 20th century. These are supported by late 19th-century pilasters with raised panels. From the left, there is a 20th-century door leading to the upper floors, a 20th-century glazed door to the shop, and a three-pane fixed shop window.
At the rear, there is a white four-storey stuccoed extension from the 1930s, which has a parapet and curved-corner metal tripartite windows on all floors, slightly taller on the two upper floors. To the left and right of these windows are small single lights on the rear and west side elevations. The rear of the original building is visible to the left, featuring one upper window similar to the front, a first-floor 20th-century window, and a later 20th-century lean-to at the ground floor, positioned at the angle of the 1930s addition.
