Description

32 King Street is a former public house built with painted stucco and features an imitation slate close-eaved roof and a rendered end stack. The building has two storeys and three irregular bays, with one bay on the left and two on the right. It has a plinth and late 20th-century glazing in the original openings. The first floor contains two 18-pane sash windows and one 12-pane sash window, all of the same size. The ground floor has an 18-pane sash window to the left, which is set slightly further in than the left window above, and a much-altered shopfront to the right with a 20th-century fascia over the door and a broader opening that was once a wide sash window, now featuring a narrow sash and door, both framed by plain pilaster strips.

The right end wall facing Little Water Street has a large external chimney breast on the gable end, with a renewed 12-pane sash window to the left and right on the first floor, and a blocked window on the ground floor. In 1981, an attic window, one first-floor window, and a door with an overlight were mentioned to the left of the chimney. To the right, there are two lower rear wings under a single close-eaved roof. The first wing is two storeys tall and has a 20th-century horizontal-sliding casement window on the right side of the first floor, along with two unaligned blocked windows on the ground floor. The second wing has three storeys, with its facade slightly stepped forward, featuring two widely spaced bays with 20th-century windows on the second floor under the eaves, fixed windows with glazing bars on the first floor, and a door to the right on the ground floor. In 1981, there was also a blocked window in the centre and a blocked door to the left. The ground floor is said to be wholly altered and was not available for inspection.
