Description

The White House is a house that has been converted into offices. It was originally built in the early 18th century, raised in height in the late 18th century, and extended in the early to mid-19th century, with later alterations. The exterior is finished in stucco and topped with a slate roof. The original part of the facade features three storeys and four bays, with a central doorway.

On either side of this central section, there are two-storey additions: two bays to the left and one bay to the right. The windows are glazing bar sashes, and the first and second floor windows in the two bays to the left of the door have been replaced by a 19th-century two-storey canted bay window. Most windows, except for those in the canted bay and those on the second floor, have external shutters. The doorway is adorned with a fanlight and a doorcase supported by engaged fluted Doric columns, featuring a triglyph frieze and cornice. The door itself has six raised and fielded panels. There are chimneys on the left-hand gable and one in front of the ridge on each side of the central three-storey section of the building.

The interior has not been inspected, but records indicate that there is a late 18th-century curved staircase with stone treads and plain iron balusters, along with some Adam style fireplaces.
