Description
The lodge at St Peter's School, built around 1844 and altered in the 20th century, was designed by John Harper. It is constructed of white brick with limestone ashlar dressings, and features a hipped slate roof at the front. The building is two storeys tall and has a front wall facing northeast towards the road, which consists of one bay with chamfered mullioned windows—four lights on the ground floor and three on the first floor. To the right of the lodge, there is a wall with moulded coping and a chamfered Tudor-arched gateway that includes a cast-iron gate. This wall encloses a former pedestrian entrance, which has archways in the side and rear walls. The house wall forms the fourth side of the enclosure and contains a 20th-century casement window set within a blocked chamfered Tudor-arched doorway. There are two chimneys on the ridge. The left-hand return wall, which is rendered, features a two-storey projection with a 20th-century casement window above a 20th-century doorway with a hood. The interior has not been inspected.
