Description

17 Bridge Street is a terraced house dating from the late 19th to early 20th century, featuring two low storeys and a cellar, topped with a slate low-pitched roof. The front is finished in painted stucco and includes two 16-pane sash windows on the first floor, which have been renewed since 1981. The ground floor has a shop front from the late 19th to early 20th century, located at the center and left, with a cornice adorned with small modillions and supported by pilasters with large console brackets. To the left, there is a plate-glass shop window, while the right side features a canted pane leading to a recessed half-glazed panelled door with an overlight. To the far right, there is another 12-pane sash window that is not aligned with the window above.

Inside, the ground floor has three roughly chamfered ceiling beams with rough run-out stops, and painted plank panelling made of overlaid boards that are mortised into the ceiling beam on the south side of the former entrance passage, lining the staircase wall. The staircase is possibly from the 18th century and has an enclosed bottom flight. At the top of the stairs, there is a small closet with a two-panel door, similar to those found at 23 Bridge Street and 13 Spilman Street, along with two fielded panelled doors.
