Description

9 Hamilton Street is a two-storey terraced house, dating from the 18th century. The exterior is clad in colourwashed stucco, topped by a slate roof with a shared brick end stack on the right. Originally a three-window range, it now has two windows, matching number 7. The roof features two small 20th-century roof lights on the left and one larger 20th-century roof light to the right; a modern dormer noted in the 1978 listing has since been removed. The ground floor has a 12-pane sash window on the left, alongside a 20th-century six-panel door with a plain overlight, which replaced a fielded six-panel door described in 1978. The doorway is paired with that of number 7 but likely represents the original house entrance, as it aligns with the window above. A low plinth sits at the base of the building. At the rear, a small stair-light window with brick and stone detailing is visible. The centre of the first floor has a 12-pane horned sash window. A 20th-century dormer is present on the rear elevation.
