Description
This building at 16 Main Street is a house with a shop front, featuring colourwashed roughcast cladding and a slate roof that is higher than the roof of the adjacent No 18. The chimneys have been removed. It is a three-storey structure with a two-window range. The top floor has square 9-pane sash windows, while the first floor has two 12-pane sash windows. The ground floor features a large square plate glass shop window positioned centrally, with a doorway to the right. The half-glazed door includes a plain overlight. All window openings have eared surrounds, with keystones present on the ground and first floors.
The right end elevation, which is prominent on the corner, has two 4-pane sash windows at the attic level, one of which is similar to the first floor window on the left. The ground floor has a 20th-century shop front with plain pilasters and a broad fascia. The outshut at the rear has an end wall with two square 9-pane sash windows, one positioned above the other. The rubble rear wall features a 9-pane sash window under the eaves on the left, with the walling set back to the right to expose an upper window of No 1, while the outshut roof extends over the space.
