Description
2 Old Market Street is a two-storey building with a whitewashed roughcast exterior on a rubble base. It features a steeply pitched asbestos slate roof with plain eaves and lacks chimneys.
On the first floor, there are three Victorian sash windows, each with plaster architraves and stone sills. One window belongs to No.2, while two are part of No.3.
The ground floor has 19th-century shop fronts with a continuous hood. There is a central doorway to No.3, which has a modern door and a shallow three-light rectangular fanlight above it. To the right, there is a large six-pane shop window, flanked by pilasters with brackets. To the left, adjoining the doorway, is an eight-pane giant sash window that serves as a shop window. This window has modern top lights on the outer panes of the top sash. The shop front for No.2 has been modernized, although it retains the flanking pilasters and brackets; however, both the door and window have been updated.
At the back, there is a wing that is likely from the later 19th century. Inside, the building features cased transverse ceiling beams.
