Description
Orfa-ddu is a single-storey building primarily constructed of rubble, with the gable walls mainly made of cob and some concrete block patching on the left side. It has a slate roof, although the front slope has been replaced with corrugated iron. A low brick chimney stack is positioned slightly back from the right gable. The building features a two-bay elevation with a doorway on the left and a window on the right, which has a stone sill and inserted glazing, supported by timber lintels. The ends of the building are plain, with the right side situated on the bank of a small stream. There is a small window at the rear gable, also with a timber lintel.
The interior has an unusual single-room plan, likely part-lofted. It includes a fireplace hood made of timber lath construction on a pole beam, a free-standing brick bread oven, and a rough pole cross-beam. The roof is a three-bay collar-truss design with pegged joints.
