Rhydlas Uchaf

Rhydlas Uchaf is a building constructed from whitewashed rubble with a slate roof. It features rubble gable chimney stacks, with the one on the left being thicker, and there is also a stack on the left lean-to that adjoins the house. The front of the building has two bays, with the ground floor showcasing 4-pane hornless sash windows that have cambered stone voussoired heads. There are two dormer windows with sloping "eyebrow" roofs, which have 20th-century glazing. To the left end, there is a later rubble lean-to with a corrugated asbestos roof. A window on the west side, which faces the road, has a lintel and a boarded door leading to the rear. Additionally, there is a later outshut at the rear right with a boarded door and a 2-pane window facing west.

The building has an unusual layout, originally consisting of two rooms with a rear entry into the main room. The main ground floor room contains three rough beams and a modern fireplace, while a six-panel door leads to the parlour. The roof structure is a five-bay collar-truss design. The eastern two pairs of trusses are rough, featuring pegged collars and paired purlins, while the other trusses are later and sawn. This mixture of old and new timbers may indicate that the roof was raised to create attic rooms, reusing the best of the original materials.
