Description
Cefnmabws is an attached range of outbuildings that dates back to an unspecified period. This long agricultural structure is built from rubble and is connected to the left end of the main house. It includes a cart-house, barn, lofted stables, and stables at the far end, each section stepping down in height away from the house. The roofs are covered with slate, and the barges are also slated.
The cart-house and barn are of one build, with the cart-house being attached to the house. There are two wide, tall, segmentally-headed cart entries featuring thin stone voussoirs, projecting keystones, drips, and imposts, along with a central dressed stone pier. The doors have been altered. On the first floor, there are three small windows with timber lintels, and a 20th-century window at the rear.
The barn is slightly lower and has three bays, a plinth, and a very tall central door with a cambered stone voussoired head, featuring paired and boarded doors and boarding above. There is a window on each side with similar heads, a timber louvre to the right, and the left window is altered and partly blocked with a small window inserted above. There is a high door at the rear that matches the front, with a loop to the left.
To the left, there is a lower and later lofted stable with a three-bay front. It has two upper windows with timber lintels, and the ground floor features a stable-type door to the left and a small window in the center, both with timber lintels. There is a door to the right that abuts the barn, which has a segmental stone voussoired head but is blocked with an inserted window. The lower, added three-bay stable to the left forms the end of the range and has a corrugated roof, with a central stable-type door and a window on each side, all with cambered stone voussoired heads.
Inside the right-hand ground floor room of the house, there is a wide fireplace with a boxed-in lintel and a modern grate, along with a cross-beam and a simple stick-baluster staircase. A six-panel door leads to the left room. The long outshut kitchen includes a bread oven that is served by the flue of the aforementioned fireplace. Above the cart-house, there is a loft supported by massive rough beams.
