Description
Barn cottage at Gelli is a 19th-century building constructed of rubble stone, partly whitewashed, with a slate roof and a stone stack at the eastern end. It is a single-storey structure with a loft. The northern front features a typical stable arrangement, with a door positioned between two windows, all shifted to the right. The windows and door have timber lintels, and there is a small light above the door, also with a timber lintel.
On the southern rear wall, there is a door and a window, both with timber lintels, located to the right. The western end has a partially blocked loading door.
Inside, the ground floor contains three large beams. The eastern section has a lower cobbled floor and a large fireplace, which features a lath-and-plaster hood on a long fireplace beam, along with a bread-oven and a copper integrated into the fireplace. The roof is supported by four heavy oak collar trusses, three of which have scarfed feet. The second truss includes a plank partition with horizontally laid boards.
