Description
The Smithy at Danyrhiw is a 19th-century structure built from rubble stone, topped with a slate roof and featuring a red brick stack at the left end. The front has large double doors made up of a single door on the left and a stable door on the right, with a removable door post between them. To the left of the doors is a single casement window with a brick head, while to the right is a paired casement window, also with a brick head. The end walls are windowless, and there is a door and a pair of casement windows on the rear wall.
Inside, the roof is supported by three collar trusses, and the walls are made of rubble stone. The south end wall has two niches, and there is a rear door on the west wall. A massive projecting fireplace on the north end is large enough for tiring wheels and features a raised hearth with rubble stone sides. The fronts of the jambs are made of red brick with curved angles and four square recesses on each side for small tools. The fireplace has a timber lintel and a sloping hood, which was originally plastered but has since been reclad in asbestos over the rafters. There are large bellows on each side of the fireplace, although the bellows on the left have been removed and are now against the wall.
