Description
Church Cottage is a mid-18th century building that stands two storeys tall and is constructed of coursed rubble, which has been overpainted, topped with a slate roof. It features two end stacks; the left-hand stack is a large external rubble stack with a bread oven and a brick upper section, while the right-hand stack is an internal stack with a brick upper. The ground floor has openings that are set under cambered voussoir heads, with a boarded front door located to the left of centre. The windows are all two-light, featuring deep chamfered frames and single iron-framed opening casements.
To the left-hand end, there is a lean-to stable/store that is built of rubble and weatherboard.
Inside, the cottage has two front rooms, with a studwork partition that separates the pantry, dairy, and stairs located in the rear portion. The dairy includes a salting slab. The left-hand room has exposed joists and a scroll-stop beam, while the right-hand room features a plain exposed beam and panelled corner cupboards. The doors are boarded and fitted with strap-hinges.
