Description
Ty ffon at Cae'r Berllan is a building constructed from local rubble stone, featuring an old irregular slate roof at the front and corrugated iron at the rear. It is a single storey with a loft. The entrance is an off-centre stable-type door, with one window on each side, one of which has four panes. There is a large external gable-end stack, and an upper door to the loft that faces the yard at the back of the house. A small modern lean-to has been added to the stack end.
Inside, the space is divided into three bays by tie beams, although little of the upper flooring remains. The left tie beam has deep chamfers with bar stops, and its soffit is grooved for a timber partition, which appears to be reused in this position, likely from the mid-18th century when the house was altered. The second tie beam features rough chamfers. In the gable end, there is a large stone fireplace with an oven in the front wall and a probable boiler on the left side.
