Description
Ty Mawr is a two-storey building constructed of whitewashed rubble stone, topped with a slate roof and featuring large external stone end stacks. The front facade has a three-window range of four-pane sash windows and a four-panel door with an overlight, all accented by yellow brick heads. At the rear, there is an outshut with an altered roof pitch. The east end has a four-pane sash window on each floor, and the stack on this side has two offsets to the right. The west end stack is larger, with two offsets to the right and one to the left.
Inside, the ground floor features heavy beams, with two in each main room. Under one of these beams, a fragment of carved wood marked "I.P. 1524" was discovered. The building also contains heavy fireplace lintels. In the central passage, there is a fine later 17th-century oak doorcase with a carved border and outer bead-and-reel moulding, which may have been reset from another location. The roof is believed to have pegged tie-beam and collar trusses, likely from the 18th century, although one collar, which has a chamfer and ogee stop, is older and reused upside down. A plain dog-leg star staircase with stick balusters, probably from the 19th century, completes the interior features.
