Description
10 Old Church Street is a two-storey building constructed in the 18th century, featuring five bays and built of Flemish bond brick. The facade includes a pediment with an inset Diocletian window in the slightly advanced central bay. The roof is moderately pitched and covered with modern slates at the front and older slates at the rear, complemented by bargeboards and a dentil eaves cornice. Brick stacks are present.
The front of No 11 is symmetrically arranged with two windows, featuring small paned iron lights in timber cross windows. The windows have cambered arches, with headers on the first floor and brick voussoirs on the ground floor. No 9 has similar openings but with modern fenestration. There is a header arch above the first-floor cross window in the advanced bay, and a cut cross window to the right of the door, which has a flat head and small paned iron lights. The advanced bay also features a six-panel door with a two-light rectangular fanlight. No 11 has a similar door, but the upper panels are glazed and there is no fanlight. No 9 has a modern door.
Both buildings have modern gabled hoods, and there is a small paned two-light iron casement window on the right gable end, with modern windows on the opposite end. The rear elevation is timber framed, with tall panels that are brick nogged and tension braces, and irregular squat framing under the eaves. The base is in English garden wall bond. There is a curved projecting former stairwell at the rear of No 10, with a slate roof below the eaves. A 19th-century wing is attached to the rear of No 9, featuring small paned three-light transomed windows with cambered heads.
Inside, there are roughly dressed beams and timber framed partition walls.
