Description
27-30 Broad Street is a three-storey terrace building with cellars at the rear, constructed of colourwashed Flemish bond brick. The terrace features a gabled slate roof with a lead ridge and plain eaves. There are brick stacks that are truncated at the extreme right.
The second floor has shallow upper sashes with nine panes, while the first floor windows are twelve-pane sashes. The lower sash of the window on No 27 has had its glazing bars removed and a Victorian sash has been fitted to the right on No 28. There are dummy windows between Nos 28 and 29. The windows have gauged brick voussoirs, plain reveals, and stone sills. The ground floor has modern shopfronts. Round arches lead to tunnel passages between Nos 27 and 28, Nos 29 and 30, and at the extreme right of No 30.
The rear of the building is constructed in English garden wall bond, and No 27 retains its original windows. It features small paned iron cross windows and similar but narrower fixed lights to the left, with cambered header arches. Most of the other windows at the rear are largely modern.
