Description
27-30 Broad Street is a three-storey terrace building with cellars at the rear, featuring an eight-window facade. The structure is built of colourwashed Flemish bond brick and has a gabled slate roof with a lead ridge and plain eaves. There are brick stacks that are truncated at the extreme right.
The second-floor windows have shallow upper sashes with nine panes, while the first-floor windows are twelve-pane sashes. The lower sash on No 27 has had its glazing bars removed, and a Victorian sash has been fitted to the right on No 28. There are dummy windows located between Nos 28 and 29. The windows feature gauged brick voussoirs, plain reveals, and stone sills. The ground floor has modern shopfronts, and there are round arches leading to tunnel passages between Nos 27 and 28, Nos 29 and 30, and at the extreme right of No 30.
The rear of the building is constructed in English garden wall bond, and No 27 retains its original windows. It has small paned iron cross windows and similar narrow fixed lights to the left, with cambered header arches. Most of the other windows at the rear are largely modern.
