Description

The gates, gate piers, and walls surrounding St Mary's Churchyard are constructed from English garden wall bond brick and feature limestone capstones. Internally, the walls have regular low buttresses and rise to brick gate piers. The gate piers have moulded freestone plinths and panelled backs, with a domed freestone cap on the left and a concrete cap on the right.

The plain iron gates were presented by the children of Robert Owen in 1858 and feature a caliper motif at the points.
