Description
Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant Bridge is a single-arch stone bridge featuring stone parapets. The segmental arch spans approximately 12 meters and is constructed with sandstone voussoirs that decrease in depth from about 800 mm at the springing to 600 mm at the apex. Above the arch, the bridge is made of local slate, with a corbel course located on the extrados of the arch and at the base of the parapets on each side. The masonry is roughly coursed common stone, with smaller stones used in the parapets. The parapets stand about 1 meter high and flare out at each of the four corners, topped with a flat rock-faced coping. The carriageway measures about 6 meters in width and includes side pavements.
