Description

The Plough, along with its adjacent outbuildings and Plough Cottage (formerly known as Chapel House), is a public house with stables and a cottage to the right. This two-storey building is constructed from local uncoursed slate masonry, painted in cream and white. The roofs have been restored and are covered in random slates laid in small courses, with tile ridges. The structure consists of two ranges that meet at a slight angle and rises gently to the west, where the stable unit of the public house and the cottage have a higher roof level. There are three small brick chimneys.

The main elevation of the public house on the left features a symmetrical front with three windows and a central porch. It has large timber mullion and transom windows in three lights, with small panes and iron glazing bars, and integral iron opening casements. The windows have thin timber lintels and stone sills. To the left of the porch, the lower window is slightly offset to the right and has a modern semi-glazed door to its left, under the same lintel. The porch is simply designed with two thin round posts at the front and two similar wall posts.

To the right of the main part, there are two bays with higher floor levels but the same roof line, slightly angled back to follow the road. These bays have similar two-light windows and a small door on the right. Further to the right, the row angles back significantly and continues as a single bay under the main roof, featuring a small two-light casement window and a wide opening leading to the stable yard. The two units to the right are stepped up, with the stable unit on the left having a small loft opening above and a small window below. The final unit on the right is the cottage, which has a restored roof with small, non-random slates, a dormer window, and a small aligned window beneath, along with a door on the right, all restored in timber.

The interior is said to retain the original serving hatch.
