Description

Minafon is a 1½-storey, partially timber-framed, three-unit house, with a further lofted stone-built unit at the lower end, away from the street. The roof is slate, with tile ridges. The house faces north onto an access passage and backs onto another passage, meaning it stands detached from other properties. The unit closest to the road is rendered; the other two units have timber framing to the front (north) but are rendered to the rear; the additional unit is built of rubble stone with render at the rear. The timber framing is painted black and white, and the remaining exterior walling is painted white.

The gable end facing the street includes a 16-pane mullion window with iron glazing bars above, and a 12-pane mullion and transom window below. Black-painted timber bargeboards are present.

The front (north) elevation features a 12-pane dormer window above a 12-pane mullion and transom ground-storey window, and a door to the right in the rendered unit closest to the street. In the timber-framed section, there is a similar dormer window and a 20th-century window below the eaves, alongside three further 20th-century windows and another boarded door with a small overlight. The stone-built workshop unit at the right has a long workshop window above and an arch-headed small-pane window below.

The lower (west) elevation of the workshop unit features a boarded upper door between two brick-arched windows, one retaining its original glazing bars, and a semi-glazed modern door below.

The rear (south) elevation displays two lateral chimneys with bare brick stacks, a dormer window, and a small upper window in the additional end unit.

Inside, the east room (to the left) of the timber-framed section contains a hearth, served by the wider of the two lateral chimneys, with a very large timber bressummer and a large brick-lined bread oven.
