Description

This is a red-painted cast iron letter box located in a pier outside No. 14. It has a rectangular design with an architrave and a raised surround around the door. The crown and monogram 'G R' in Roman capitals indicate that the box dates to the reign of George V. Above the mouth of the box, there is a hood with raised lettering that reads 'Post Office'. The door features a raised surround with a field that displays posting times. This letter box is of the standard Post Office Type 'C' and is made by the manufacturers 'W T Allen and Co'.
