Description
Trewen is a two-storey house. It appears to date from the 18th century, although it has undergone alterations. The exterior is rough cast render, currently painted white. The roof is covered with graded courses of small grey and russet slates from the Gallt y Llan quarry in Snowdonia. There are two groups of stepped chimneys in red-brown brick at the ridge.
The front elevation features a single gabled dormer with a small-pane metal casement window under a drip mould. The roof overhangs the front wall on corbels, is flush with the gable ends of the house, and slopes down to first-floor level at the rear. A porch is present at the front; its roof is supported on a wooden post to the left and includes vertical wooden boarding and a low half-timbered wall. A square-headed entrance doorway is visible. To the right of the porch, there's a three-light small-pane window and a small window set at a right angle. Three small-pane metal casement windows are located to the left of the porch. The left elevation has a three-light small-pane casement window above a semi-hexagonal bay window. The right elevation has a three-light window on each floor, as well as a small window between the floors on the right side.
A garage with a thick slate, hipped roof is situated at the west corner of the garden, where a lane meets a close. The garage walls are in roughcast render.
