Description
Y Refael is a building constructed of rubble, partly set on a rough boulder plinth, and topped with a continuous slate roof. The smithy section, located on the right, features old slates. To the left, there is a large projecting end stack that serves the former hall. The central entrance to the house section has a 20th-century boarded door, with flanking 12-pane casements and smaller 8-pane casements located under the eaves. There is also a squat end chimney to the right of the house section. The smithy section includes large double garage doors and a 20th-century window. The rear of the building is partly built into the rock. It has two modern flat-roofed dormers and a modern window in the former smithy area, as well as an upper loading bay on the right gable end. Although not inspected during the survey in April 1995, it is noted that the hall is said to retain its beamed ceiling.
