Description
The terrace wall at Borthwnog Hall Hotel is a dwarf wall built around 1800. It is constructed of rubble and faced with coursed sandstone blocks, topped with dressed slate coping. This wall serves as a sea wall and is approximately 1.5 meters high on the estuary side, where it has a rubble plinth, and 0.6 meters high on the house side. To the west, the foundations are made of rock. The wall rises up an incline to the west and features a semi-circular curve at its end. It extends eastward for about 137 meters, where it is interrupted by a modern 12-meter car-parking bay. Further east, there is a short break after 15 meters, allowing pedestrian access to the estuary. The wall continues for another 183 meters, ending at the top of the drive in a gentle curve.
