Description
Maestryfer is a building constructed of whitened rubble and topped with an old slate roof that is heavily grouted. It features stone coped gable parapets and end chimneys with capping and weather-coursing. The entrance is off-centre to the right and has a recessed boarded door. On either side of the entrance are late 19th-century four-pane windows. The upper floor includes three rubble gabled dormers, each with six-pane casement windows.
At the lower left end, the byre section retains its kneelered gable parapet, although the front-facing wall has been rebuilt. This wall features a part-glazed door and, beyond that, wooden part-glazed garage doors. There is also a further four-pane window at the rear, which has a projecting lintel, and a catslide dormer to the right with a window matching the others. A 20th-century rear extension is present, and there is a rough stone-flagged pavement in front of the building.
Inside, there is a large hall fireplace to the left, which has a chamfered bressummer. The ceiling beams are chamfered, and to the left of the fireplace, there is a large partly rock-cut recess. The building has a three-bay upper cruck roof.
