Description
Cae-Mab-Seifion is a long, earlier 17th century one-and-a-half storey farmhouse built into the slope of a hill. It features rubble construction with a slate roof and part boulder plinth. The left gable has a rubble parapet and squat end chimneys with capping and weather-coursing. There is a wide near-central entrance, which has been reduced to the left where a modern light is located, and a boarded door. To the left of the entrance is a blocked window, followed by two early 20th century four-pane casement windows. To the right of the door, there are two similar windows. Above, there are two rubble gabled dormers with matching windows; the left dormer has a rendered gable. At the rear, there is an opposing entrance with a slate-stone lintel, also reduced in width, along with a six-pane window to the left and two four-pane windows to the right. A stair-light is present on the uphill gable.
Although not inspected during the survey in March 1995, it is known that the interior includes an uphill hall and a downhill service bay with a heated parlour beyond. There is evidence of a former post-and-panel partition screen in the central cross-passage. The hall is said to retain a large fireplace with a 17th century wall cupboard and a mural stair to the west. The roof has five bays with upper cruck collar trusses, except for the southernmost bay, which features a later A-frame, suggesting some rebuilding at that end.
