Description

Cesailgwm-Bach is a long one-and-a-half storey farmhouse built from rubble, which still shows some external render and colourwash. It features an old slate roof with stone-coped gable parapets that have kneelers. The farmhouse has squat end chimneys with simple capping and weather-coursing. The entrance is off-centre to the left and includes a primary ovolo-moulded and stopped doorcase with an 18th-century fielded six-panel door. To the left of the entrance is an early 20th-century 12-pane casement window, and to the right are two small four-pane windows. The roof has four equally spaced hipped rubble dormers, each with four-pane windows.

To the left of the main building is a ruinous late 18th-century stable addition, while to the right, on the uphill side, is an earlier 18th-century byre addition, formerly known as the 'trying house.' This byre can be accessed from a stone-flagged forecourt via a flight of stone steps. There is an entrance to the right and a small window opening to the left, although it is currently roofless as of March 1995. The rear of the building has five additional small windows, mostly glazed in the same style.

Although not inspected during the survey in March 1995, it is believed that the interior retains a beamed ceiling with ogee-stopped chamfers in the hall on the right. Mural stairs are noted at both gable ends beside the fireplaces; the stair to the parlour on the left dates from the second quarter or mid-18th century and may be related to simple panelling also recorded in that room. The hall is thought to have a cupboard to the left of the fireplace with a carved door, and it features a four-bay collar-truss roof.
