Description

Penamenpool Bridge is a Grade II listed structure featuring a slightly ramped center. It has a timber deck supported by piers made of four cross-braced timber piles. The bridge originally had an opening span at the center and is equipped with plain handrails. At the southwest end, there is a gate with polygonal cast iron piers topped with ornamental caps, flanked by two wrought iron gates featuring "tulip" finials, a lock rail, and a pedestrian gate set to the right.

At the southeast end, there is a toll booth dating from around 1900. This structure is timber framed with lap boarding and stands on timber piers. It has shallow jetties on the gable ends supported by brackets, a moderately pitched felted roof with finials and pendants, bargeboards, plain eaves, and additional brackets. A raking dormer facing the bridge features a felted roof and cheeks, along with a deep verge supported by brackets.

The toll booth has a canted, transomed five-light small-paned window at the corner by the bridge, with a doorway alongside. The rear elevation has three windows: a three-light transomed window on the left, a two-light transomed window in the center, and a single light on the right, all with small panes. Additionally, there is a modern toll booth located on the west side at the southeast end of the bridge.
