Description
The former dwelling located immediately to the south of Hendre Forion is a single-storey rectangular building with an upper loft, constructed from rubble and topped with an old slate roof. It features an end chimney on the right, complete with capping and weather-coursing, and a rubble gable parapet. The entrance is off-centre, flanked by two small, square unglazed lights. To the right of the entrance, there is a large dormer entrance with a rubble gable parapet, which was originally accessed via a bridge from the higher ground opposite. The left gable has an upper loading bay with stone-stepped access, and there is a single unglazed window at the rear.
Inside, the ground floor consists of a single room with high-quality ogee-stopped ceiling joists. To the right of the entrance, a diagonally-set chamfered bressummer leads to a large angled fireplace, which functions like a smoke hood. The flue spirals up to the gable chimney above in an unusual arrangement. The main loft entrance is angled to the left to avoid the bulk of the internal stack, and it features a plain contemporary pegged collar truss.
