Description
This is a rectangular one-and-a-half storey outbuilding located at the rear of Derfel Gadarn, constructed from local rubble and set on a high boulder-rubble plinth. It features a steep slate roof with a rectangular end chimney on the left gable, which has weather coursing and a cornice band; the upper section of the chimney is a 19th-century rebuild. The main southeast side of the building faces a small garden and has three irregularly spaced entrances that indicate its former use as a stable. The outer window openings to the left and right have chamfered and pegged frames with boarded doors and pegged window surrounds. The upper floor includes three additional windows: the left window has 4-pane early 20th-century glazing, the center window is a reused 6-pane window from the 19th or early 20th century, and the right window is framed and boarded, all featuring projecting stone sills.
The rear northwest elevation faces the lane and has a single pegged, framed window on the left. The north corner of the east gable is chamfered to align with the lane. There is a boarded loading bay at the upper gable, complete with an expressed wooden lintel. The west gable has a first-floor boarded entrance accessed by a flight of seven stone steps. Adjacent to the main building on the northwest corner is a 19th-century outbuilding made of rubble and slate, which is whitened and features a central boarded door with flanking windows that have 4-pane casements and stone sills. A lean-to addition with a boarded door is attached to the west.
Inside, the floor is stone-flagged, and the roof has plain 19th-century purlins. The left section, which was a former hall, has whitened walls and a roughly stopped-chamfered main ceiling beam with plain joists, some of which have been replaced. There is a fireplace with a wide, stopped-chamfered bressummer and a 19th-century oven. The window has an original raised sill with a wooden seat. The right section features roughly-chamfered ceiling joists.
