Description
The barn at Ffridd-Ddu is a rubble-built structure dating from the 18th century, set on prominent boulder foundations. It features stone-coped gable parapets with crude kneelers and an old slate roof. There are two entrances on the south side; the entrance on the right is lower, and both have projecting stone lintels. An upper loading bay is located on the east gable, accessed by stone steps and a lintel similar to those at the entrances.
To the north of the barn is a later catslide piggery, which has entrances on the north and west sides, along with an L-shaped pen wall to the north. The barn has a two-bay roof supported by an upper cruck truss with a tie beam, featuring rough stopped-chamfered details. The remainder of the roof was constructed in the 20th century.
