Description
The building is a field barn dating from the 18th century, located below Ffridd. It features a combination of timber framing between stone gable ends, with some stone walling at the eastern end. The barn has a continuous old thick slate roof, although much of the southern slope has been replaced with corrugated iron. It consists of six bays, with a central three-bay barn. There is a pitching door on the western gable end, and small doors lead into the central bay of the barn.
Inside, there are five trusses of varying construction. Trusses two, three, and five from the west are originally partly or fully filled. Truss two includes a tie beam and principal rafters made from re-used cruck blades, which are trenched for the tie beam. The fifth and sixth bays have stone walls on the southern side, likely replacing earlier timber framing. The walling framework is grooved to accommodate wattle and daub, which has since been replaced with the current weatherboarding. The central threshing bay of the barn features a timber floor.
