Description
Rose Cottage, located at Nos. 8 and 9 in Llandygai, is a pair of single-storey and attic estate cottages designed in a mildly Picturesque style, forming a T-plan. The cottages are constructed from roughcast rubblestone and feature a slate roof with slightly overhanging verges and carved purlin ends. The symmetrical design consists of three bays, with the central bay slightly projecting as a gable. The windows have been renewed but remain in their original openings on both floors; the ground floor of the flanking ranges includes 3-light windows, with the left window featuring leaded latticed lights.
Entrances are provided through 6-panel doors located at the gable ends, with the left entrance sheltered by an open lean-to porch and the right under a gabled timber porch. The left gable end also has a 6-paned sash window to the left of the porch and a small loft hatch. The integral end stacks have stone bases and paired diagonal brick shafts topped with stepped capping. At the rear, a full-length lean-to connects to single-storey gabled outbuildings, each with a brick end stack, corresponding to each cottage. The interior was not inspected at the time of the survey.
