Description
Nos. 8 and 9, known as Rose Cottage, are a pair of single-storey and attic estate cottages built in a mildly Picturesque style, forming a T-plan. They are constructed from roughcast rubblestone and feature a slate roof with slightly overhanging verges and carved purlin ends. The cottages have a symmetrical layout with three bays, where the central bay slightly projects as a gable. The windows have been renewed in their original openings on both floors, with the ground floor of the flanking ranges featuring 3-light windows, the left one having leaded latticed lights.
Entrances are through 6-panel doors located at the gable ends; the left entrance is sheltered by an open lean-to porch, while the right has a gabled timber porch. The left gable end includes a 6-paned sash window to the left of the porch and a small loft hatch. Each cottage has integral end stacks with stone bases and paired diagonal brick shafts topped with stepped capping. At the rear, a full-length lean-to connects to single-storey gabled outbuildings, each with a brick end stack.
The interior was not inspected at the time of the survey.
