Description
The gate piers, gates, walls, and railings are located directly west of the west porch of St Tegai's Church. Between the two gate piers is a broad avenue lined with yew trees, bordered to the north and south by a low wall topped with slate slabs and pointed iron railings featuring unusual axe-shaped standards. The gates at the eastern end of this avenue lead to Talgai Hall and The Old School House.
The gate piers at the eastern end are made of Anglesey limestone ashlar and feature two tiers of trefoil-headed blind tracery panels, with moulded plinths and shaped capping. These piers are flanked by quadrant walls, also of ashlar, which end in lower and simpler piers. The heavy ramped wooden double gates between the inner piers have two tiers of trefoiled arches with hollow spandrels and iron-spiked tops.
To the south of the gate piers, the wall is constructed of rubblestone with slate coping and iron railings, similar to those along the avenue leading to the church entrance, and it follows the curve of the lane to the southeast. To the east of the church is the park wall of Penrhyn Castle, and the churchyard extension is marked on its eastern side by a slate slab and wire fence.
