Description

Ysgol Llandygai and the attached schoolmaster's house are designed in the Perpendicular Gothic style and form a basic L-plan. They are constructed from tooled Anglesey limestone ashlar with a plain chamfered plinth and feature slate roofs with simply moulded coped verges and plain kneelers.

The front wall of the school has three tall mullioned and transomed windows, each with three lights and hollow spandrels beneath tiers of four-centred lights. Some of the original leaded latticed glazing has been replaced with plain glass, and the windows have dripstones. An identical window is located on the right gable end. To the left of these windows is the slightly projecting right gable end of the schoolhouse, which has a square-headed three-light mullion window on the upper level and a small lancet window above it, both featuring drips. The ground floor includes a flat-roofed section with a small four-centred window to the left and a pointed doorway with a hoodmould and a boarded door to the right, above which is a blank inscription panel.

The front wall of the schoolhouse has a small gable to the left above the eaves, with a small three-light mullioned and transomed window directly below it. Below this window is another three-light mullioned and transomed window to the left of a gabled porch, which has verges and kneelers matching those of the roofs. The porch features a pointed chamfered outer doorway, with a small two-light mullioned window above. To the right of the porch, a large three-light mullioned and transomed window nearly reaches the full height of the wall. The schoolhouse has an unusual ridge stack in the form of a large octagonal turret. All windows on the schoolhouse share the same details as those on the school. The porch is marked with the date "AD 1843."

The interior was not accessible at the time of the survey.
