Description
7 Bryn Eglwys is part of a group of three single-storey cottages located in Llandygai, designed in a simple 'vernacular revival' style. The cottages feature attics in the gabled wings that project on either side of a lower central range. They are constructed from roughly coursed rubblestone and have slate-stone lintels. The slate roof has overhanging verges and carved ends on the purlins.
The symmetrical front of the cottages consists of five bays arranged in a 1:3:1 pattern. The gables have three-light windows on the ground floor and two-light windows above. The original window openings have been fitted with 20th-century windows, which flank the central entrance to the central range (No. 6), now featuring a 20th-century glazed door. The entrances to Nos. 5 and 7 are accessed through gabled porches made of slate slabs on the outer returns.
There are prominent red brick ridge stacks with stepped capping on either side of the central range, along with shorter integral stacks on the rear gable ends of the gabled ranges. The interior was not inspected during the survey.
