Description
Bro Dawel is a pair of single-storey estate cottages located in Abergwyngregyn, designed in a simple 'vernacular revival' style. The cottages are symmetrically arranged, with gabled wings on either side of a central range. They are constructed from snecked rubblestone and feature large slate-stone lintels. The slate roof has deep overhanging verges and decorative king-post trusses at the gables.
The front of the cottages is symmetrical, consisting of a layout of 1:2:1 bays. The gables have 3-light windows, while the central range has 2-light windows, with 18 and 12 panes respectively. The entrances are located on the outer returns. The cottages also have prominent brownish brick ridge stacks, with paired diagonal shafts on the gabled wings and four diagonal shafts on the central range, all featuring rendered bases and stepped capping.
On the outer return of Bro Dawel, there is a bracketed lean-to hood that has been infilled below to create a small porch. Additionally, there is a lower rubblestone range attached to the rear, along with a small shallow-pitched extension. The interior was not inspected during the survey.
