Description
Ddol Cottages, located in Abergwyngregyn, are a symmetrical pair of single-storey cottages, each with two rooms and lofts. They are built from irregularly coursed rubblestone with buttered pointing on the sides and rear, while the front features more tightly-jointed snecked rubblestone and voussoirs above slightly cambered door and window heads. The cottages have a slate roof with overhanging verges and carved ends on the purlins. Each cottage has a central entrance with an original bracketed gabled hood, flanked by two-light 12-paned windows with slate cills. Similar windows are present in the gable ends to light the lofts. There are integral brick end stacks and a larger shared ridge stack in the center, all topped with stepped capping.
No. 2 features a 20th-century six-panel door and two 20th-century rooflights on the front slope, while the windows have been replaced in the late 20th century; however, original 12-pane casements remain at the rear. The interior was not inspected during the survey.
