Description
40 and 42 Bath Road are a pair of attached cottages built in the early 18th century. They are constructed from coursed rubblestone and feature a stone slate roof with coped verges and saddlestones, along with ashlar stacks. The cottages are one storey high with an attic and have a total of four windows. The doors are framed with chamfered cases and topped with flat stone hoods supported by brackets. The central windows are three-light cyma mullioned, while the side windows are four-light cyma mullioned. There are four attic dormers, each with hipped stone slate roofs and two-light cyma mullioned windows. The windows and door case of No 42 have been restored to replicate the originals. On the right side of No 40, there are two single cyma moulded casements on the ground floor and one two-light mullioned window in the attic. The left side of No 42 mirrors this but has been restored. At the rear, there are extensions from the 19th and 20th centuries. The interior has not been inspected.
