Description
This is a late 17th-century house located on Bath Road, near Shaw, Wiltshire. The house is constructed of rubblestone with a stone slate roof and ashlar stacks. It is two storeys high with three windows visible from the front. The central doorway has a moulded architrave. To the right of the door is a single three-light window with ovolo moulding, and to the left are two two-light windows with splayed mullions; one of these appears to be a reused insertion. Above the doorway is a two-light splayed mullion window, with a three-light ovolo moulded window and a two-light splayed mullion window either side. Hood moulds and a string course over the ground floor have been altered. The right return gable features a single-light window above a two-light splayed mullion window, and incorporates a dovecote in the gable. The rear of the house includes 20th-century casement windows and skylights within the roof. The interior was not inspected. The house was undergoing renovation and roof replacement at the time of a survey in June 1984.
