Description

Church Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early to late 18th century. It is built of squared and coursed rubblestone and features a stone slate roof with coped verges and ashlar end stacks. The building has a double-pile plan and a symmetrical three-window front over three storeys. The central door is topped with a stone hood supported by brackets and has a moulded case. The windows on the ground and first floors are 12-pane flush sashes, while the second floor has 6-pane sashes. The facade includes flush quoins and plain window architraves.

At the rear, the facade is two storeys high and has an outshut roof, with an early 19th-century lean-to extension on the left. The three windows at the back are two-light beaded mullions with casements, and the same type of casements are found on the rear half of the gable ends, while the front half has sashes. Inside, there is a large stone fireplace with a 4-centred arch in the front left room, and a plain stone square-headed fireplace with a keystone in the rear left room. The ceilings in the rear part of the house are lower, and the flue levels differ from those in the front. The doors are either four or five planks. The differences between the front and rear suggest that the front was remodeled in the late 18th or early 19th century, indicating it was originally an early 18th-century house.
