Description

Lagard House is an early 18th-century house located on the south side of First Lane, in Melksham Without, Wiltshire. The house is built of local rubble stone with a stone slate roof and coped verges. Ashlar stacks are present at the ends and in the centre of the building.

The two-storey, three-window front features a gabled porch on the right-hand side, containing a beaded architrave entrance. Flanking the doorway are three-light beaded mullioned windows. To the left of the porch is a 20th-century timber five-light casement window. The first floor has two two-light beaded mullioned windows and a three-light window to the left. A blocked door is located to the right of the five-light casement window on the left-hand side. The rear windows are of a matching design, using beaded mullions. A 19th-century extension is attached to the left-hand side, with a tiled roof. The interior has not been inspected. A subtle change in the roofline indicates the building may consist of at least two distinct phases of construction.
