Description
No. 75 is a cottage located on School Lane in Melksham Without, dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century. The front is made of ashlar stone, while the rear and side are constructed from squared rubblestone. It features a Welsh slate roof with coped verges and kneelers, along with ashlar stacks at each end. The cottage is a single pile with an outshut at the rear and stands two storeys high with two windows on the front. The central entrance consists of a four-fielded panelled door topped with a flat stone hood supported by brackets. There are 12-pane sash windows on either side of the door, and a plat band runs along the first floor, which also has 12-pane sashes. The right return of the building includes one 12-pane sash window on the first floor. The rubblestone outshut at the rear has one storey and an attic, featuring two windows that are 12 and 8-pane sashes. The steeply pitched roof includes an ashlar stack. The ashlar front part is a rebuilding of an earlier cottage, which is now part of the outshut. The interior has not been inspected.
