Description

This is an 18th-century cottage located on School Lane in Shaw. The cottage is constructed of squared rubblestone and has a 20th-century concrete tiled roof with a coped verge on the left side, and an ashlar stack. It is two storeys high with two windows. The front door, positioned to the left of the centre, has a plain architrave and a flat stone hood supported by brackets. To either side of the door are paired sash windows with mullions; the window to the right has eight panes, and the window to the left has twelve. The first floor has a two-light, eight-pane sash window to the right, and a pair of twelve-pane sashes in plain architraves to the left. A 19th-century range, with a roof parallel to the main roof, adjoins the rear of the cottage. The interior is not of particular architectural interest.
