Description
The stables at Shaw House are an early 18th-century stable block constructed from rubblestone and topped with a stone slate roof. The building is arranged in an L-shape, featuring a central block with a later transverse extension and a 19th-century carriage house on the right. There is also a groom's cottage that runs parallel to the rear. The stables are single storey with an attic and have three windows. A carriage entrance has been inserted to the right, alongside two cross windows and a door with a moulded architrave on the left. A string course runs along the building, and above, there are three oval wreathed oculi. The roof has three hipped dormers with flat coped verges and saddlestones, and a small ashlar stack is located to the right of the center. The left wing features cross windows and a door with a moulded architrave, as well as eaves at the string course. Inside, there are cast iron framed loose boxes with iron hay mangers and a cobbled stone floor.
